Since 1926 - Covering Four Generations Continued Food Service in Salem, MA

Founder Stephano Ingemi, 368 Highland Ave, Salem, MA. Over 2,000 chickens raised on average per month for both fresh eggs and fresh poultry, sold from a farm stand on Highland Avenue until the demand became too much.

An additional source was needed to meet the demand of the poultry farming output, so Stephano took a chance and bought an old building in downtown Salem and opened Steve's Market to sell his poultry. Keeping up with his Italian heritage, he also sold homemade sausages and groceries. Joseph Ingemi bought the store from his dad in 1944 and added a full meat department, Italian Deli with meats and cheeses, plus a fresh vegetable department.

The old Steve's was demolished and rebuilt on the same site into a small supermarket with expanded inventories and equipment. In 2008 they added Steve's Liquors, and continued food service to Salem until the family sadly sold it in 2024.

Founder Joseph Ingemi — Front Street, Salem, MA. Made an affordable menu from Fried Clams to Prime Rib and Salem loved it! When urban renewal made them vacate in 1975, they bought a huge building just up the street and kept the name Beef & Oyster House, continuing operations on a much larger scale.

Founders Joseph, Steve, & John Ingemi — 143 Washington St., Salem, MA. Continued business with a new luxury restaurant with over 400-person capacity. Las Vegas-style live entertainment was featured on level two, with the restaurant operations on level one, along with a "working man's tavern" called Deacon Giles Distillery.

Founder Arthur Ingemi — 38 Margin Street, Salem, MA. Featured great Italian and Steak Subs, known for outrageous portions and fresh quality ingredients. It soon became very popular, and only after one year a buyer offered a number that could not be refused.

Founder Arthur Ingemi — 29 Bridge Street, Salem, MA. Purchased the property from the proceeds of the sale of his sub shop and continued operations for many years serving Fried Clams, fresh Lobsters, Steaks, and Prime Rib. Friday and Saturday nights Bridgeside featured live regional bands such as Roundabout, Hush, New Friends, and many more — selling out every weekend to huge crowds.

Founder Arthur Ingemi — 31 Bridge Street, Salem, MA. When land and buildings directly next door to Bridgeside became available, Arthur went into competition with himself and opened Cityside Sports Pub, featuring huge TVs and four pool tables. Food service was delivered from Bridgeside next door, and the two businesses complemented each other perfectly.

Founder Arthur Ingemi — 168 Essex Street, Salem, MA. Arthur saw an empty restaurant space downtown that was vacant, but also the home of decades of failed restaurants — nothing seemed to work in that location due to the long winters and overpriced menus. Taking all of this into consideration, Art, together with his sons Andrew and Alex, chose to develop a Tavern with high-quality items at reasonable Salem prices. As the years went on, the Village was enlarged and grew room by room. To accommodate the sports crowd, the new Tap Room was developed, featuring many TVs, 4 Diamond Pool Tables, and a nice-size arcade. The group later enlarged once again to develop Governor's Hall, a large private event room hosting family parties, wedding-related events, and corporate and business meetings. The Village further expanded its services in 2024 and developed a full-service Catering Department with delivery and setup to all regional locations.

Founder Andrew Ingemi and his Dad and Partner Art Ingemi — 286 Humphrey Street, Swampscott, MA. Both purchased the land and building and developed the Dockside Pub overlooking Swampscott Bay and the Atlantic, featuring a Lobster Tank, full seafood menu including Fried Clams and Italian Seafood Pasta dishes. Now going strong and serving fresh donuts and full-service breakfast and brunch, as well as lunch, dinner, and a fun late-night pub menu.
